Dallas, TX – February 10, 2023 – Dallas Capital Bank is proud to announce Marcos Garza, Senior Vice President, Commercial Banking, has been appointed to the board of directors for St. Philip & St. Augustine Catholic Academy by the Most Reverend Edward J. Burns, Bishop of Dallas. Mr. Garza officially joined the board in September 2022.
St. Philip & St. Augustine Catholic Academy (SPSA) was formed in response to the Diocesan Blueprint for Excellence to provide students in southeast Dallas with an excellent, rigorous, whole-child education. SPSA is the only Catholic elementary and middle school option south of Interstate 30 (I-30) and east of Interstate 35E (I-35E). Serving students from Pre-K 3 - 8th grade, SPSA provides a SAFE (Saints Advancing in a Faith-based Environment), rigorous education with a holistic, family-centered approach. Many of the families served would not be able to afford a Catholic education if not for tuition assistance.
“We are excited to welcome Marcos Garza to the SPSA Board of Directors,” said Dianne Brungardt, Principal of SPSA. “His financial acumen and extensive experience cultivating lasting relationships with his clients will undoubtedly help guide our strategic path to elevate the community of Southeast Dallas, and we look forward to channeling his expertise and energy into furthering our mission.”
“When I first was presented with joining this organization, I was truly intrigued by their mission,” said Mr. Garza. “After visiting the school and meeting the students and teachers, I was 100% in! The faculty and board members’ passion is contagious. Everyone involved genuinely wants to make a difference. This is a real opportunity to make an impact on the lives of children in an area that may not have the same resources as other parts of the Metroplex. What the academy has accomplished is a testament to everyone’s drive, and I can’t wait to contribute to the success of the SPSA.”
Mr. Garza has 15 years of commercial banking experience in Dallas and is a graduate of Southern Methodist University. In addition to currently serving on the board of SPSA, he has actively volunteered with Children’s Hunger Fund, Samaritan’s Purse and North Texas Food Bank.
